CAROLYN BYBEE grew up in a musical family, singing and playing the piano from an early age. She credits her parents, siblings, and music teachers with inspiring her passion for music and the trumpet. Carolyn received Music Education and Trumpet Performance degrees from Iowa State University and The University of Michigan. She is currently expanding her private trumpet studio, having recently retired after 26 years as an Instrumental Music Teacher in the Ann Arbor Public Schools.
Carolyn is an experienced trumpet soloist, chamber musician, and ensemble member. She has performed with many of the symphony orchestras in mid and southeast Michigan, playing extensively with the Detroit Symphony and the Michigan Opera Theater orchestras, and performing twice in Carnegie Hall with the DSO. Carolyn has also performed extensively for southeast Michigan churches and cathedrals, and was honored to perform as the trumpet soloist for the Opening Ceremony and Mass during the visit of Pope John Paul II to Detroit.
In addition to teaching and performing, Carolyn enjoys cooking, gardening, and making music with her husband and son, who are also accomplished musicians.
